The Kings were on the power play when Marchand found himself charging up ice in a one-on-one situation and deked Kings defenseman Drew Doughty so bad he lost his stick. Marchand wasn't able to finish that play with a goal but somehow Marchand picked the rebound up and then danced around four Kings all by himself to get in close range and beat Jonathan Quick for the short-handed goal.
From start to finish, the deke to the weaving around Anze Kopitar and the finish, it was one heck of a play by Marchand. I mean, he just beat the Kings in a 1-on-4 situation (1-on-5 if you want to count Quick) in the proximity of a phone booth.
Remember this one when it comes to the discussion of goals of the year and/or season.
It's been a pretty nice 24-plus hour stretch for Marchand who had the Bruins' only two goals (and scored in the shootout) in Sunday's loss to Chicago and then potted this beauty to give Boston an early lead. He now has 15 goals and 12 assists in 49 games.
