Martin St. Louis, Tyler Seguin, Tomas Hertl and… and… Eric Nystrom? These four NHL players don't have much in common except for one thing. They've all scored four goals in an NHL game this season. Nystrom joined the growing club Friday night by scoring all four of Nashville's goals against the Calgary Flames.

Unfortunately Nystrom's effort wasn't enough to give the Predators the win as they dropped a 5-4 decision in a shootout.

Perhaps it shouldn't be much of a surprise considering Nystrom scoring goals at this rate is a rare occurrence, but he wasn't one of the players picked to go during the shootout. Apparently there's not much stock in a hot hand in Nashville.

Nystrom, who was Calgary's first-round pick in 2002, hasn't been much of a scorer over his career. Friday night's performance represents 36 percent of Nystrom's goal output this season. If he manages to score six more goals this year, he'll surpass his career high of 16. In 2010-11 with the Minnesota Wild, Nystrom scored four goals over the entire season. So Friday was kind of a big night for him (or for anyone, really).

Considering how rare something like this will be for Nystrom, perhaps we should consider ourselves lucky that Nystrom didn't whip out any of the celebrations that were suggested by Joe Thronton after Tomas Hertl's four-goal effort earlier this season. However, if Nystrom did score a fifth, who could blame him if he wanted to break out this old post-game celebration from his American Hockey League days?

Eat your heart out, Ned Braden.
