When the Winnipeg Jets take the ice for warmups on Tuesday night ahead of the game against the Predators, they will all be wearing the jersey of the late Rick Rypien and his No. 11.

It's a touching tribute that comes on Tuesday for a reason. Tuesday is Canada -- and it stretches across the border -- is Bell Let's Talk day in which the media conglomerate will donate 5 cents to mental health initiatives for every text message, mobile and long-distance call, Facebook share and tweet. So far the site lists already more than 35 million (at time of writing) communications. That's a lot of money going to a good cause.

Rypien signed to play with the Winnipeg Jets in free agency back in 2011 but before he could ever play a game in his Jets uniform, Rypien committed suicide after a history with depression and other mental health issues. Before going to the Jets he played with the Vancouver Canucks.

The Jets are doing a little more than just wearing the uniforms for warmups. Coach Paul Maurice shared his thoughts on the situation as did Jets defenseman Marc Stuart.

Good job on the Jets -- and Canucks, who have been active in social media promoting the Bell Let's Talk initiative -- on helping to bring attention to a serious issue by recognizing and commemorating Rypien in this way.
