Tim Thomas returned to Boston to play against the Bruins for the first time on Tuesday night (he talked about it earlier in the day), and it didn't go so well. The Panthers goaltender struggled and gave up six goals to his former teammates in a 6-2 Bruins rout.
The game also just happened to coincide with President Barack Obama's annual State of the Union address, appropriate given how much of a stir Thomas made when he skipped a visit to the White House with his teammate in 2011 to meet Obama. Yes, it was political.
That's what made Thomas' comment after the game one of the best quotes of the season.
Tim Thomas:"would have been more fun to watch the State of the Union Address." #panthers— Renaud Lavoie (@LavoieRenaud) January 29, 2014
Yup, you could say Thomas didn't have a very good time back at TD Garden.
