Last weekend in Sochi, Canada reminded the hockey world of its place atop the international game with a 3-0 win over Sweden in the gold-medal game. It was the culmination of a tournament that saw Canada outsocre opponents 17-3 to win a second straight gold medal.
This of course was cause for celebrationcomplete with champagne showers and sappy speeches.
In a tease for the upcoming episode of NHL Revealed that will air on Thursday night at 10 ET on NBCSN, the cameras took a tour inside Canada's locker room in Sochi after winning the gold.
What we learned is that the Chicago Blackhawks players are well-versed in champagne popping. Normally mild-mannered Jonathan Toews got the party started and then later Patrick Sharp had to show Sidney Crosby how it's done. It's been four years since Sid last had the chance given Canada's last gold came more recently than a Penguins' Stanley Cup so he needed some reminders.
There are also the speeches from Steve Yzerman and Mike Babcock who had nothing but compliments for the team. There words are all deserving, of course, but it's almost as if they're thanking the players for just having the chance to be involved.
The latest episode of the show which is the latest 24/7-style show following players around the Stadium Series and Olympics, is all about Sochi. Seeing Canada's postgame celebration will probably be just one highlight.
