CHICAGO – Ever wonder what it might be like to face shots from some of the NHL's best players? Marc-Andre Fleury gets to see it every practice when he goes head-to-head with his Pittsburgh Penguins teammates.
The Penguins held an early-evening practice at Soldier Field in Chicago Friday ahead of their Stadium Series game against the hometown Blackhawks Saturday night. The folks over at NHL.com wanted to take fans inside the building and see what the ice looked like from Fleury's perspective, so they mounted a camera on his goalie mask.
His Penguins teammates were more than happy to oblige fans that wanted to know what it might be like to get hit in the face with a puck, too. Fleury took quite a few off the noggin and maybe one or two off the actual camera itself.
Fleury did manage to get the better of a lot of his teammates in the shootout portion of the practice, as you'll see on the video. The Penguins netminder was also wearing a microphone, so you can hear all the playful trash talk from Fleury as well.
These GoPro videos have become rather common, but it's always interesting to get a peek at how things look from a perspective fans don't always get to see.
