The Chicago Blackhawks are focusing their attention in the trade season on their own roster so on Monday they took care of some business by signing Brandon Bollig to a contract extension.

The new deal is for three seasons, the team announced.

"We take a great amount of pride in having watched Brandon come up through our system and become a big part of our lineup on a daily basis," Blackhawks Vice President and General Manager Stan Bowman said. "We are pleased to be able to come to this agreement with him, ensuring that he will remain a part of our organization. We look forward to seeing his continued development with the Blackhawks."

According to Bob McKenzie of TSN, the value is $3.75 million over the three seasons. It's a pretty friendly price for a guy who has been playing a little bigger role this season but is still a bottom-six player for the defending champs.

The native of Missouri has played in 62 games for the Blackhawks this season and has six goals and six assists. Prior to this season he had played in just 43 games in his career without a point to show for it. His time on ice has also climbed to 10:05 per game. He's one of the few hitters the Hawks have (because they usually have the puck, you see).

Now that he has his new deal, he'll have to start proving he's worth it. It's time to start polishing up those skills.
