The Edmonton Oilers did a goaltending shuffle a few weeks back and apparently they liked what they have seen. On Monday they reportedly signed Ben Scrivens to a new two-year deal.

The contract, announced by the team on Monday, is moderately price according to Sportsnet's John Shannon. The deal is for $4.6 million, or $2.3 million per season. For a starting NHL goaltender, that's a pretty great price.

Scrivens was acquired by the Oilers a few weeks ago in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings. It came just minutes after the Oilers swung a deal with the Predators, sending Devan Dubnyk to Nashville. Dubynk, meanwhile, was placed on waivers by the Preds on Monday with the return of Pekka Rinne imminent.

Since coming to Edmonton, Scrivens has been good, certainly better than what the Oilers have been getting in net for a few years. He has a .940 save percentage in seven appearances for the Oilers, including his 59-save shutout of the Sharks at the end of January.

While the term of the deal indicates the Oilers still want to see more before they are certain Scrivens will be their guy going forward, so far it has been a very good fit for Scrivens -- an Alberta native -- and the team.
