The Minnesota Wild were clearly in the market for a goaltender and on Tuesday they got one, just not one of the goalies people were expecting. Ilya Bryzgalov is headed to Minnesota.

The Edmonton Oilers sent Bryzgalov to the Wild in exchange for Minnesota's fourth-round pick, a pick that was acquired in the deal for Jason Pominville last year. With Niklas Backstrom hurting and Josh Harding out indefinitely, Bryzgalov is the backup option to Darcy Keumper now.

"Bryzgalov is a quality veteran that adds depth to the goaltending position for our team," Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher said.

In a corresponding move to replace Bryzgalov the Oilers landed Viktor Fasth from the Ducks, who swung three deals on Tuesday. The price for Fasth is a third-round pick in 2015 and a third-rounder in 2014. That gives the Oilers a duo of Ben Scrivens and Fasth, which sounds like a major upgrade from where they started this season in the crease.
