They say bounces have a way of evening out over time. On Wednesday night in Anaheim, that time spanned just a couple of periods.

Goalie Dustin Tokarski was getting a rare NHL start, making his season debut with the Canadiens in Anaheim with Carey Price out. His lack of experience in a place such as the Pond showed when he quickly left his net to play a dumped-in puck from Francois Beauchemin.

Seconds later it was in his net, Tokarski the victim of an awful kick off the stanchion. The home teams always get the bounces.

Or do they? That goal helped the Ducks get the game to overtime and invariably a shootout. The skills challenge then went extra frames before Anaheim forward Kyle Palmieri stepped up. He very clearly beat Tokarski and it looked like he banked the puck in off the post.

Everybody thought it was a cool; Palmieri calmly celebrated, Tokarski swept the puck out of his net dejectedly, the horn went off and even one referee initially said it was a goal. Video review said otherwise.

Soon after Andrei Markov was beating Jonas Hiller for the game-winning score and the Habs were leaving with a 4-3 win. The Pond taketh away and then it giveth but for the Habs the end result was still the two points.
