March Madness isn't just for basketball. It's the conference tournament season in college hockey as well, full of all the drama their friends on the hardwood bring to the table each spring.

St. Cloud State was hosting Miami University for Game 1 of a first-round series in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference playoffs. With the visiting RedHawks up 4-3 with less than a minute to go, St. Cloud had to pull out all the stops.

It looked like they were cooked as the clock ticked down below five seconds, but that was before the puck found senior captain and Los Angeles Kings draft pick Kevin Gravel in space with less than one second to go. (Video via @cjzero)

Gravel snapped the puck just as soon as it made it to his stick. It found the net and just as the puck was crossing the line, the buzzer sounded. Upon video review, the puck cleared the goal line completely with one tenth of a second remaining in regulation. COUNT IT!

Buzzer-beaters may be commonplace in college basketball, but you don't often see something like that in hockey, particularly in such a huge situation.

The joy was short-lived, however. Miami ended up spoiling Gravel's late-game heroics when Washington Capitals prospect Riley Barber scored the overtime game-winner to take Game 1. The two teams meet again Saturday night in St. Cloud for Game 2.
