Rich Peverley's recovery from his cardiac event in a game a little more than a week ago continued on Tuesday when the Dallas Stars forward underwent heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

Stars GM Jim Nill gave an update via the following statement.

"Rich Peverley underwent successful surgery to correct an abnormal heart rhythm at the Cleveland Clinic on Tuesday, March 18. He is currently in normal sinus rhythm. He was released from the Cleveland Clinic today and is expected to return to Dallas tomorrow. He will be monitored closely and may require further treatment. There is no decision being made at this time on his ability to return to hockey participation."

The key part there is that the surgery was successful, so successful that Peverley will likely be back in Dallas in short order. However his future as a hockey player remains in question and probably will for a lot longer as they work through a dangerous heart situation.
