The Chicago Blackhawks finally got the better of the BLues in a big way on Wednesday night but the had a major scare in the second period when Patrick Kane had to leave the game due to an injury. As a result, he's going to miss three weeks.
Kane was the victim of a hit along the boards when he wasn't even the one hit. Brenden Morrow hit Kane's teammate Sheldon Brookbank, lost his balance and bounced off the hit by falling to the ice. Or at least it would have been the ice if Kane's leg weren't in the way.
Kane went down for a moment before gingerly skating off under his own power and going down the tunnel a minute later. He didn't return in the game.
There wasn't much information given on what the injury is but obviously it's a leg injury and when you're talking about that whether it's the ankle or the knee it could have been a lot worse.
Still, it's now a question whether Kane will return before the end of the regular season to get back up to speed for the Blackhawks' Cup defense because, you know, he's kind of important to their team with 29 goals and 40 assists in 69 games this season. Remember, the Hawks are not in a position to coast, they are neck-and-neck with the Avalanche for the second spot in the Central and home-ice advantage against the other in the first round.
