Almost every kid that plays hockey dreams about scoring a big overtime goal. They go through the entire scenario in their heads before acting it out in street hockey or during practice. Few, however, probably have drawn up their OT winner like the one 17-year-old Kasperi Kapanen scored earlier this week for Finland's KalPa junior team. It can only be described as the perfect finish to a perfect shift.

It was the third-place game of the junior hockey playoffs between KalPa and Ilves.

An Ilves player had the puck and entered the KalPa zone. Kapenen charged hard in a back-check to help the defense. He ended up absolutely leveling the Ilves forward, dispossessing him of the puck. Ilves got it back, tried to put it deep into the KalPa zone, but the ever-present Kapanen was there to intercept the puck. Then he took off and ...

Darting through the defense, Kapanen split the Ilves defenders before scoring a between-the-legs goal a la Tomas Hertl, only this time from a seemingly impossible angle to win the game and the bronze medal for KalPa. As you can imagine, Kapanen was very excited.

The 17-year-old prospect is likely to go in the first round of this year's NHL Draft. He is the son of former NHLer Sami Kapanen and spent most of the season playing with his dad on KalPa's pro team in the SMLiiga. Kasperi had 14 points in 47 games and is expected to be part of Finland's squad as it hosts the upcoming IIHF World Under-18 Championship.
