Toronto Maple Leafs history was made Friday night in Philadelphia. It was a former Flyers forward that did it, too. James van Riemsdyk scored a goal four seconds into the second period against his old club, setting a Maple Leafs franchise record and tying the league record for fastest goal to start a period.

The goal came after a clean faceoff win by Tyler Bozak, who worked his way back to the puck and slid the puck to van Riemsdyk who was wide open. He didn't waste much time in burying the puck with a quick shot past Steve Mason.

At that point, the JVR tally tied the game. It was a stunning goal, but in the end, not enough for the Maple Leafs who dropped their seventh consecutive game with a 4-2 loss to Philadelphia to continue a free-fall out of the playoff picture.

It also sounds like former boxer Riddick Bowe is ready to follow through on his promise to knock out Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle if his favorite hockey team lost again.
