GIF: Ryane Clowe's night ends early after big hit from Quinton Howden

Ryane Clowe has become a magnet for injuries in recent seasons. On Monday night it found him again courtesy of a huge hit from Panthers forward Quinton Howden.

The hit, that sent Clowe flying toward the boards to a hard fall, resulted in Clowe shaken up on the bench. Not long after he was leaving the game and when he didn't return to start the third period, the Devils announced he was done for the night.

You don't want to suspect as much but given how he looked on the bench and his recent history with them, you can't help but be concerned about concussion-like symptoms for Clowe.

Here's a look at the hit -- which was a good, clean hit from Howden -- via @MyRegularFace.

Clowe signed a pretty expensive deal before the season with the Devils and while he has been limited to 43 games he has been relatively effective in that time with seven goals and 19 assists thanks to his goal and two assists before the injury on Monday. For a team that has problems scoring, that's a sizeable contribution. Not to mention he has been playing with Jaromir Jagr and Travis Zajac in a productive line for New Jersey.

It's about the last thing the Devils wanted, any injury, at this time. They entered Monday five points back of the wild card spots but with a very soft schedule -- that included a thumping of Florida on Monday -- it's still within reach, they just need to stay healthy. That starts with Clowe.
