The NHL and NBC have chosen a much different approach to playoff advertising this year, electing to go with a more "viral" approach by way of some comedy. What they didn't do is really extend the suspense with the second (and final?) installment of this Cup Caper Capade.
Nick Kroll, who might know from the Kroll Show (I shamefully remember him from the short-lived show Cavemen) and his henchmen were revealed as the thiefs when they issued a couple of demands. Chief among them: Kroll wanted to be an NHL player, presumably so he could actually win the Cup and not just resort to stealing it. It doesn't go so well and the Cup is recovered.
So I guess we can have those Stanley Cup playoffs later this month with the holy grail of sports trophies back in the white-gloved hands of the Keepers. The real question is if this marketing campaign is a keeper.
