Say whatever you want about the toughness of hockey players, but at least those guys get to wear pads and helmets. There's no such protection for NHL head coaches, but after Thursday night, Winnipeg Jets bench boss Paul Maurice may consider donning some head gear.

During Thursday night's contest with the Pittsburgh Penguins, an errant puck flew into the Jets' bench and clocked Maurice right in the forehead. OUCH.

Maurice, who received immediate medical attention on the bench, had about a two-inch gash on his head from the errant rubber. As is tradition, Maurice got patched up and didn't miss a shift. Heck, he didn't even get blood on the suit from what I can tell. That's a coach's coach right there.

Here's a look at Maurice after getting patched up, looking no worse for the wear via USA Today Sports Images (with a special shout out to evil Andrew Ladd in the lower left corner of this picture. That's a terrifying gaze there).

After the game, Maurice joked about the incident (I think) saying getting hit by the puck “felt just great.”
