Hockey fans are used to seeing blood, whether it's from the chin, the eyebrows, the fingers, their legs; you name it, we see it. Yes, even a player's skate.

On Saturday night in Vancouver, Kings defenseman Matt Greene had that happen to him after blocking a shot. The result was his boot looked like it had been taken from the scene of an ice slasher movie set in Hollywood; it was covered in blood.

He was bleeding so much from his foot that it was leaking through his boot and staining the ice right in front of Jonathan Quick's net.

Being the hockey player that he is, Greene would return later in the game and then downplayed it as a simple pressure cut afterward. From Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider:

"I just got hit with a puck and just got cut. That's it," said Greene, who noted that it wasn't the first time he had bled from a similar type of play.

"It's just a pressure cut. It's fine. It happens."

See, no big deal. Who needs a boot that's not full of your own blood anyway?
