Every year the New York Police Department and the Fire Department of New York get together for a little charity hockey game. The two sides meet and while it's all in the name of charity, there's certainly some rivalry aspect to it as well, a little city-wide bragging rights among the city's finest.
Apparently that rivalry has some bad blood as the game -- it bears repeating, the charity game -- broke out into a full-on brawl at Nassau Coliseum on Sunday. Just about everybody was fighting but the goalies, who watched the action together from center ice.
In the end it was the NYPD getting the win in the game, 8-5. FDNY now holds a record of 23-16-2 vs. the NYPD but this one is probably going to be remembered for a bit more than the final score.
