In a thrilling game between great rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers topped the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in overtime to clinch third place in the Metropolitan Division. With the win, the Flyers now know they will face the New York Rangers in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

It was a dramatic final few minutes in Saturday's game as Claude Giroux gave the Flyers a 3-2 lead with 1:15 remaining in regulation. Then, with Marc-Andre Fleury pulled, Pittsburgh knotted things up with a goal by Kris Letang with 37 seconds remaining in the third.

That set up overtime and an unlikely hero for the Flyers, who needed the win to clinch. Defenseman Mark Streit made a nice move around Letang and let go a fairly weak backhanded shot on the ice. Fleury misplayed it while sliding. The puck went off Fleury's goalie stick and through his legs for the winner.

The Rangers and Flyers split their season series with each team winning a pair of games, which should make for an outstanding first-round bout.

The win also came at a cost for the Flyers. Goaltender Steve Mason, who had played pretty well throughout the game was knocked out of the contest when Jayson Megna drove defenseman Andrew MacDonald into the Flyers netminder. Mason remained in the game for the rest of the second period after the collision, but did was replaced by Ray emery for the third.

The Penguins will await the wild card being settled to learn their first-round opponent. It will either be the Red Wings or Blue Jackets.
