Mikael Granlund has a penchant for spectacular goals at the biggest moments. Monday was just another example.
The Minnesota Wild dominated the Avs all game long in terms of puck possession and shot attempts but they just couldn't beat Semyon Varlamov so the game went to overtime in a scoreless draw. Not for too long, though.
Because 5:08 into overtime, Granlund took matters into his own hands. Fighting off the defender all the way over on the boards, Granlund was able to break free and then dance all the way through the crease and past a couple of Avalanche defenseman before finding a wide-open net. Just to make it tougher, though, he fell and finished the game while lying on the ice.
Goal of the postseason so far? Goal of the postseason so far, even if it weren't for the circumstances.
This isn't the first time Granlund has scored a massive goal, though. He's on a stamp in Finland for doing just that at the junior level.
