We all know that the Stanley Cup is the best trophy in sports and it's not even close. By extension, the Stanley Cup presentation is also the best for the trophy goes right to the players who won the title, not the owner.
That's what makes this video so awesome. YouTube user lostcanuck (this must have pained him/her assuming he/she is a Vancouver fan) put together a montage of every Stanley Cup presentation going all the way back to 1949. It's cool to see the dynasties come and go.
It's interesting to note some slight changes over time. Of course the Cup underwent some changes as it grew in size with the addition of the rings below the top part, the actual Cup.
But also how the players hoisted the Cup has changed over time. Nowadays we always see the captain pick the Cup up at both ends and lift it over his head, horizontally. It makes sense, the Cup is just a bit more sturdy and less likely to fall that way. However the players didn't always used to do it that way.
The one constant has remained, though; the presentation of the Stanley Cup has been the best in sports and will continue to be. Because it's the Cup.
