The first period went from bad to worse in a hurry for the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night.
Already down a pair of goals, the Sharks lost defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic with a few minutes to go in the period. Whatever the ailment, it came on a play on the end boards after contact from Kings forward Jarret Stoll.

Vlasic left the game and then didn't return in the second or third periods, though the Sharks didn't issue an update on his status. According to Sharks broadcaster Bret Hedican, Vlasic was limping when he went to the dressing room.
Stoll was given a two-minute roughing penalty.
If he is out things start to get really dicey for the Sharks in a hurry. Vlasic has had a tremendous season, earning a berth on the highly competitive Team Canada defense for the Olympics. Needless to say, if he's going to be out for any length of time, it spells bad news for the Sharks, especially now that the Kings are making this a series.
Vlasic had five goals and 19 assists this season in 81 games while playing nearly 22 minutes per game.
