For the second time in franchise history, the Minnesota Wild won a Game 7 in overtime in Denver against the Colorado Avalanche. This time the winning shot came off the stick of Nino Niederreiter.

In an overtime that was up-and-down right from the get go, Niederreiter and Kyle Brodziak sprung free for a 2-on-1 break. With the pass option taken away, Niederreiter fired the shot on net and beat Semyon Varlamov. The celebration was on.

It was the second goal of the game for Niederreiter, who had 14 goals and 22 assists this season. The Swiss forward started to show all the promise that he has had as a prospect in the NHL with the Isles and now Wild.

His goal was also a fitting ending to the best series of the first round, a snipe in overtime of Game 7. It was a game that was as crazy as the series with the Wild scoring late in regulation and overcoming a deficit four separate times before winning.

Now the Wild will face the defending champion Blackhawks in the next round but Niederreiter has already made a name for himself with his Game 7 heroics.
