When Matt Fraser woke up Wednesday morning, he was getting ready for another day as a member of the Providence Bruins. He had just enjoyed his lunch and since he wasn't planning on playing for a few days, he indulged in a little bit of frozen yogurt. Then he got a phone call that would drastically change his plans for the next few days.

Fraser was informed he had been called up to the Boston Bruins to play against the Canadiens in a crucial Game 4 in Montreal on Thursday night. Little did Fraser know, he was about to become the Game 4 hero.

When regulation ended in a 0-0 tie, Fraser probably didn't expect to be tapped on the shoulder for an early shift in overtime. Sure enough, he was out there and sure enough he scored the game-winning goal in the extra period to tie the series at 2.

The goal came after Johnny Boychuk's hard shot went wide and took a weird hop off the boards. The puck bounced around in front of the net and Montreal netminder Carey Price couldn't locate it. Fraser was behind the net and was able to get out to the loose puck and tap it in only 1:15 into the extra period, giving the Bruins a 1-0 victory and a much happier ride home to Boston.

The 23-year-old from Red Deer, Alberta, informed NBC's Pierre McGuire about finding out about his callup in his postgame interview:

"Yesterday," Fraser said of when he learned he'd join the team. "I had just finished eating lunch. I didn't tell anyone, but I just had frozen yogurt, too. So I've been working that off today. I jumped on a plane and I couldn't be happier. I played for the Stanley Cup a thousand times on my buddy's outdoor rinks, but to do it in a place like this, it's pretty amazing.”

This may be unhealthy, but Fraser may want to consider indulging in Froyo a little more often. You know how hockey players are about their superstitions after all.
