The Chicago Blackhawks have been waiting for the return of Andrew Shaw to the lineup since he was listed as day-to-day two weeks ago. They'll have to wait a little longer.

Shaw appears to be close to a return, speaking with the media on Tuesday and saying that he's feeling ready to play but the Blackhawks are going to delay his return some more. Shaw will not be in the lineup for Chicago on Wednesday for Game 2 against LA.

Instead, coach Joel Quenneville said the team will be looking for a return on Saturday. One more game off should give him time to get up to speed and a few practices in his belt before returning for what is an intense series with the Kings.

"We want to make sure the way he plays, we want him more than ready," Quenneville said on Wednesday. "A few more days and a couple more practices, we'll get him up to speed.

"He wanted to play today, but we felt it was in everybody's best interest to shoot for Saturday."

Obviously the Blackhawks have survived without Shaw with their incredible depth but he's the kind of guy you want in your lineup, especially against a goaltender like Jonathan Quick. He's a bit of a pest but more importantly is very good around the crease and creating some havoc.

This season Shaw had 20 goals and 19 assists in 80 games.
