The Montreal Canadiens had three power plays against the Rangers within the first 10 minutes of Game 4 on Sunday. It seems that's just how the Rangers drew it up.

After one power play in which the Canadiens didn't get a shot and barely possessed the puck in the offensive zone, they looked to fall asleep on the next power play a couple minutes later. The Rangers got the puck free and instead of just dumping the puck out, Brian Boyle looked up and saw speedy Carl Hagelin blowing by P.K. Subban at the far point.

One excellent stretch pass later and Hagelin was off on a breakaway a couple of strides ahead of Subban. He knows what to do from there; a deke to the backhand opened Dustin Tokarski's five hole for the goal and early Rangers lead.

The Habs got another power play shortly after but it too was fruitless. That means that in this series the Canadiens have now been outscored on their power plays 1-0 and they have had 12 attempts.

Meanwhile for the Rangers, it's almost as if karma is evening out for their special teams. Earlier this postseason, they went 36 consecutive opportunities without a power-play goal and now they have killed 25 penalties in a row while their power play has improved (there was only one way to go).
