Goaltenders usually stay about 190 feet apart from each other, so it's not often they'll come in close enough contact with each other on the ice. There's really only one time during the game where they'd really need to cross paths and that's at the end of the second period as they cross the ice to their respective benches.

That crossing usually ends without much fanfare and probably not even a second thought from either goalie about the other, but that wasn't the case at the end of the second period of the Western Conference Final between the Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings.

After the final buzzer sounded, there was a rather spirited scrum near the Kings net when Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw toppled over Kings goalie Jonathan Quick. All of the players on the ice came together and quick gave a few stick jabs to Shaw as he was not happy to have been bumped in that way.

Quick would get bumped again as he and Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford crossed at center ice. Crawford appeared to have some words for Quick and the Kings goalie wasn't about to back down. He went right at Crawford as the two exchanged words again before the referee stepped in to separate them.

Here's the GIF via @myregularface:

Crawford mimicked like he was going to drop his gloves, but nothing more came of it.

This might be one of those games within the game as each goaltender tries to get in the other's head. The duo has been good through two periods with Chicago holding a 2-1 edge over the Kings. Crawford has been particularly outstanding in the contest, so he might want to avoid breaking his rhythm with such extracurricular activities, while Quick is never shy about engaging an opponent.

This should set up a rather heated, but fun third period.
