The end of the Stanley Cup Final is always a bittersweet moment for hockey fans. It's bitter because it means the hockey season is finished but it's sweet because it means the CBC end of playoffs montage is coming.
This year it was particularly bittersweet as it's the end of an era for CBC. With the new television deal signed in Canada, CBC will no longer run hockey coverage in Canada. it is instead being taken over by Sportnet. CBC will still get some games but it will be run by Sportsnet so the Final ending was the end of CBC's long and amazing run covering hockey.
And the CBC couldn't have gone out in a much better way than one more Tim Thompson montage, the annual postseason montage. It's like One Shining Moment but better because it's about hockey.
We just witnessed one of the most amazing postseasons you'll ever see in hockey, from the first round to the Final and the epic Game 5 which the LA Kings won to become champs again. Nothing like a little Queen and fancy editing to remember it all with.
CBC wasn't alone in a rocking postseason sendoff video montage, NBC had their own for American audiences and it too was spectacular. It took also used Queen because why not?
If we won't have any NHL hockey to watch for a few months, these should at least hold over the hockey fix for a while.
