In a somewhat surprising turn of events, Scott Hartnell's time in Philadelphia came to an end on Monday when the Blue Jackets and Flyers executed a trade sending Hartnell to Columbus for R.J. Umberger.

It wasn't that long ago that Hartnell was signing a multi-year contract to remain with the Flyers but they didn't see a fit for him in the orange and black anymore so made the deal to get a center in Umberger.

Always a favorite for many in Philadelphia, Hartnell waived his no-trade clause when it became clear the team didn't want him anymore, but that didn't mean he was thrilled with leaving Philly behind so on Tuesday he crafted the following message as a good bye to Philly.

After spending seven seasons in Philly that saw Hartnell rise to being an All-Star and included a run to the Stanley Cup Final, it wasn't unexpected that we'd see some form of appreciation from Hartnell to the fans that (mostly) adored him, but that doesn't mean the gesture should be any less appreicated.

We're going to guess it won't take Hartnell any amount of time at all to become a favorite in Columbus, too.
