PHOTO: Patrick Kane plays in Buffalo men's league, shows no mercy

Patrick Kane was recently given an eight-year extension worth $84 million to play for the Chicago Blackhawks. Presumably, he received substantially less to play for the Piranhas Hockey Club, which plays in the Performax Hockey League, a men's league in Kane's hometown of Buffalo.

The photographic evidence:

The former rookie of the year and postseason MVP took his talents to the ice for the Piranhas and proceeded to do what one of the most skilled players in the game today would do if taking on local beer leaguers… destroyed them.

According to the game's box score (via TSN's BarDown), Kane scored five goals and had five assists (it's never not "Showtime," right?) as the Piranhas whooped up on the poor fellows from the Essex St. Pub team 13-5.

Presumably Essex St. Pub had some weary patrons after the game. That poor goalie, too.

Kane was not his team's leading goal scorer, however. Oh no, that distinction belongs to a gentleman by the name of Vinny Scarsella, who filled the net seven times and will now live in legend. Wonder who his line mate was…

Scarsella actually played four years at Canisius College and spent last season with the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL. He had 39 points. Maybe the Blackhawks should give him a call or something after that kind of showing alongside No. 88.

Sabres fans who had hoped Kane might end his days with the Blackhawks upon conclusion of his deal that expires after next season won't see the high-flying forward in the blue and gold any time soon, but at least they can head over to the local beer league and dream.
