Things have not been going particularly well for NHL forward Ryan Malone of late. After a rough season with the Tampa Bay Lightning, he was bought out by the club and still awaits a new team. Worst of all, however, Malone was arrested on a DUI charge on April 11 and also was allegedly found to be in possession of 1.3 grams of cocaine.

The details of that arrest were scant until the Tampa Bay Times acquired the discovery documents through a public records request. The details don't do Malone any favors.

"Oh my God," [Malone] told officer Andrew Visser.

Malone told Visser he didn't believe the officer planted the drugs on him, according to the documents, but he was "baffled" because he was wearing the same jeans for three days.

"I asked where it came from," Visser wrote in his report. "And he said he was just shocked."

That reads like every single drug possession discovery on every cop drama ever.

Malone is facing charges of DUI and cocaine possession and according to the Times, he could work out a plea deal at his next court date which is scheduled for Aug. 19.

While all of this is still in progress, Malone is actually still trying to find a new team for next season.

"I think he'll land somewhere," Malone's agent Mike Liut told Joe Smith of the Tampa Times. "It's just a matter of where and when."

Malone, a native of Pittsburgh, has played 10 seasons in the NHL with 370 points in 641 games between stints with the Penguins and Lightning.

In 57 games with the Lightning last season, Malone put up just 15 points while battling injury and several healthy scratches.
