Vancouver at Edmonton

Venue: Rexall Place

The Vancouver Canucks are winless on the road, but they're about to get back a key component to try to help change that.

Alex Burrows will make his season debut for the Canucks on Tuesday night when they travel to face the Edmonton Oilers.

Vancouver (5-3-2) has scored seven goals in going 0-3-1 on the road, but will welcome the return of their top goal scorer from last season. Burrows missed the first month of the season following offseason shoulder surgery.

The left wing led the Canucks with 35 goals last season, and returned to full-contact practice last week. He was forced to miss at least 10 games because he started the season on the long-term injury list.

"It's been a long time, so obviously I'm really looking forward to it," said Burrows, who last played in the playoffs in May. "It might take a couple of games to get back to game speed, I haven't been in any games or even scrimmages in a long time."

Burrows had a career-best 67 points playing mostly on the top line with twins Daniel and Henrik Sedin. He isn't sure where he'll play when he returns, but is happy to be healthy after struggling with the shoulder since February.

The Canucks went 4-2-0 against the Oilers last season, although they have gone 2-4-0 in the last six meetings at Rexall Place.

Edmonton (3-4-2) returns home with plenty of confidence after going 1-0-2 on a three-game trip. The Oilers ended a 0-4-2 skid with Friday's 7-4 victory at Chicago.

Sam Gagner had two goals, and Ales Hemsky and rookie Taylor Hall each had a goal and an assist for Edmonton, which opened the trip with shootout losses to Calgary and Columbus.

"We ended up getting four of six points, which isn't too bad," center Andrew Cogliano told the Oilers' official website. "Finishing off the trip with a big win over Chicago was huge. They're one of the best teams in the league, they won the Stanley Cup last year. It hopefully gives us confidence going into this tough stretch coming up."

Defenseman Ryan Whitney missed practice with an arm laceration, but should be OK for Tuesday. Whitney has a team-high nine points.

The Oilers are counting on young players, and top overall pick Hall and Jordan Eberle have both looked impressive at times. Hall has scored in consecutive games, and Eberle has six points in a five-game run.

Vancouver completed a perfect three-game homestand with a 3-0 victory over New Jersey on Monday. Roberto Luongo made 30 saves, and Raffi Torres, Ryan Kesler and Henrik Sedin all scored.

The Canucks play seven of their next eight on the road.

"We got the job done tonight and we head off on the road," Luongo said. "We gotta start winning on the road here."

Daniel Sedin failed to record a point for the first time all season, ending his nine-game streak with seven goals and five assists.

Each Sedin brother had nine points against Edmonton last season while Luongo started all six games and had a 1.84 goals-against average.
