EDMONTON, Alberta -- Los Angeles coach Andy Murray summed up the Kings comeback victory perfectly
"We have to get out of town as quick as we can because we stole two points," Murray said.
He wasn't kidding.
Los Angeles' Joe Corvo tied it with 1:10 left and goalie Roman Cechmanek off for an extra attacker, and Jason Holland scored the winner with six seconds left in the Kings' 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.
"It was a shocking finish," Holland said. "I looked up and saw that there was about 10, 12 seconds left and I figured, go for it. They're not going to have enough time to turn it over and go back down the other end."
Edmonton's Ryan Smyth had a chance to lock up the game, but his long clearing attempt missed the empty Kings' goal and went for icing, allowing Los Angeles to work deep in the Edmonton zone.
"That's huge," Holland said. "There were a lot of big factors tonight."
Edmonton took a 3-2 lead on goals by Georges Laraque and Fernando Pisani in a 1:37 span of the third, but the Kings rallied to move into seventh place in the Western Conference.
"We went from being so high to so low," Laraque said. "That's a gift we gave them. We gave them two points."
Brad Chartrand and Trent Klatt added goals for the Kings, and Brad Isbister also scored for the Oilers.
Los Angeles defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky was taken off the ice on a stretcher after falling awkwardly into the boards in the second period.
Visnovsky was checked by Oilers forward Ethan Moreau and fell into the boards, apparently hitting his head and left shoulder. Visnovsky was able to sit up as he was carted off the ice, his left arm secured against his body. He was taken to hospital for precautionary measures.
Kings forward Ian Laperriere got into a fight with Moreau moments after the play.
Notes
- Klatt, a free-agent signing in the summer, has 13 goals and 18 assists.
- Edmonton outshot the Kings 13-6 in each of the first two periods.
- Isbister hurt his right leg crashing into the boards in the third period. He was helped off the ice and went right to the dressing room.
