CALGARY, Alberta -- Duncan Keith got the goal. Jonathan Toews got the credit.

Toews' gritty play set by Keith's goal 23 seconds into overtime that gave the Chicago Blackhawks their sixth straight victory, 3-2 over Calgary on Friday.

Streaking into the Calgary end, Toews stepped around Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf and was hooked by Cory Sarich as he was about to shoot.

With a delayed penalty coming up, Toews was able to corral the puck behind the net and send it in front, where Keith buried the puck into the open net.

"It was a nice play by Toews to bring it to the net and I was kind of lucky, it squirted right out to me," Keith said.

Patrick Kane and Dave Bolland also scored for Chicago, coming off a 9-2 victory in Edmonton on Tuesday.

"We have a lot of confidence right now," Keith said. "We're a young bunch of guys and we're not thinking a whole lot, we're just having fun playing the game, hanging out with each other, and putting wins together."

Nikolai Khabibulin made 32 saves to improve 10-1-4 this season and 20-5-2 in his career against Calgary.

"He made several key stops, high quality, high-end opportunities for them and he kept us in the game all night long," said Joel Quenneville, 16-4-6 since taking the coaching duties when Denis Savard was fired. "There was dangerous opportunities at both ends. The pace was as good a pace as we have seen all year."

Chicago (17-6-7) last had a six-game winning streak in 2001-02.

"We go into every game confident about what we can do but most of all, not high on ourselves, not high on what we've accomplished so far," Toews said. "We're never satisfied, there's always something we can do a little better."

Rene Bourque and David Moss scored for the Flames.

After Bourque opened the scoring in the first period, Bolland tied it at 1:08 of the second off a rebound, and Kane gave Chicago the lead on a power play at 6:24.

"Both teams played well. Both goalies played well when they had to," Bourque said. "We had a lot a chances to finish -- I myself had a few chances -- in the third, but we didn't finish. It's definitely tough to lose like that on the first shift of overtime."

With Toews blocking goalie Miikka Kiprusoff's view, Kane whipped a wrist shot from the top of the faceoff circle into the top corner. It was just the fourth power-play goal the Flames have allowed in the last 15 games.

The Flames tied it 2 minutes later on Moss' goal.

Bourque darted down the wing and ripped a shot on goal that Khabibulin got a pad on. However, the rebound hopped over Chicago defenseman Brian Campbell's stick and went to Moss, who rapped it into the open side as Khabibulin slid across.

Notes

  • Bourque played his first three NHL seasons with the Blackhawks before being acquired last summer by the Flames in a trade for future considerations.
  • Calgary star Jarome Iginla's first period assist was his 800th career NHL point.
  • Calgary LW Curtis Glencross (leg) missed his third game.
