Feb. 28 The Flames still appear likely to move defenseman Kris Russell. The Dallas Stars are among the teams interested according to multiple reports. TSN's Darren Dreger says Calgary is seeking two second-round picks in a trade for Russell.
Feb. 28 Defenseman Dan Hamhuis has not yet been asked to waive his no-trade clause to allow for a move to be made. Feb. 28 Though Stan Bowman said the team was probably done adding ahead of the deadline, it appears they are still on the lookout for a defenseman according to Mark Spector of Sportsnet. The Blackhawks would obviously need a trade partner to retain salary to make most deals work, unless they were able to shed some salary of their own. Spector reports that the price was too high to try and land Dan Hamhuis from the Vancouver Canucks.
Feb. 28 The Islanders are talking with the Toronto Maple Leafs on a potential deal for P.A. Parenteau according to Gary Lawless of TSN, however the Isles are reluctant to give up a second-round pick to make the deal. Parenteau enjoyed the most productive two seasons of his career with the Islanders in 2010-11 and 2011-12.
Feb. 28 It appears the market for Jonathan Drouin remains pretty robust and the Tampa Bay Lightning are working hard on getting the deal done. It sounds like Tampa is doing all they can to get a player that will help them this season and beyond in return for the suspended former No. 3 overall pick. Source: Sportsnet
Feb. 28 The Ottawa Senators are in the market for a forward, ideally not a rental, according to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun. They are starting to fade in the playoff race, but don't expect them to give up just yet. Defenseman Patrick Wiercioch is a potential trade chip for Ottawa to dangle, per Garrioch.

Feb. 28 The Arizona Coyotes are getting calls regarding big forward Martin Hanzal according to both Craig Morgan of ArizonaSports.com and Craig Morgan of ESPN.com. He has one year remaining on his contract after this one with a $3.1 million cap hit.
Feb. 28 After trading away captain Eric Staal, it looks like the Hurricanes will continue selling. Kris Versteeg was pulled off the bench during Carolina's loss to St. Louis Sunday. It is believed that decision was made to protect him as the team looks to facilitate a deal. The Los Angeles Kings have been among the teams rumored as interested.
Feb. 28 GM Don Sweeney addressed the Loui Eriksson situation publicly Sunday. The two sides continue negotiating, but a deal has yet to be reached. Sweeney did note that he has had discussions with other teams regarding Eriksson, but his preference remains to re-sign the forward. However, as the clock continues to tick down to the deadline, Sweeney's decision only gets tougher.
Feb. 28 The Edmonton Oilers have already moved on from Justin Schultz , but they could be shipping out more pieces from their former core group. Sportsnet's Mark Spector says the team appears ready to move on from former No. 1 pick  Nail Yakupov , while NHL Network's Brian Lawton reported that Jordan Eberle 's name has been floated as a potential trade chip.
Feb. 28 The Kings apparently have interest in Carolina Hurricanes forward and two-time Stanley Cup champion Kris Versteeg according to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun. Versteeg recently left the Hurricanes' bench during their game against the St. Louis Blues .
Feb. 28 The Sabres continue taking calls on forward Jamie McGinn . According to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun, the asking price is a second-round pick.
Feb. 28 The Wild are in a strange limbo presently as they're outside of the playoff picture, but still trying to contend. One player that may interest opposing teams in potential deals is defenseman Jonas Brodin. TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that the Wild are not shopping him, but will listen to offers for the young blueliner.
Feb. 28 With negotiations apparently not progressing, the Bruins may be starting to look at trade options for Loui Eriksson . CSN New England's Joe Haggerty says the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues are among serious suitors interested in Eriksson.
Feb. 28 The Devils still appear likely to deal forward Lee Stempniak . According to TSN's Gary Lawless, the asking price is a second-round draft pick. Stempniak is having a big year with 41 points in 63 games after joining the Devils as a training camp invite last offseason.
Feb. 28 Rangers GM Jeff Gorton reaffirmed the team will not be dealing Keith Yandle  before the trade deadline, but told reporters Sunday that they still have enough cap room to add one more small salary. So they may not be done yet.

Feb. 28 TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that the Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes are in talks regarding a trade for Eric Staal. According to McKenzie, the Hurricanes want a first-round pick and the Rangers don't want to give one up. That said, it appears talks are intensifying. Staal is in Carolina's lineup for Sunday's game against the Blues for now.
Feb. 28 Despite his being placed on long-term injured reserve, head coach Barry Trotz said Sunday that there are no plans to shut down John Carlson for the regular season. That means the Caps probably won't have the cap space available to add another defenseman ahead of the deadline as had been previously rumored.
Feb. 28 The Philadelphia Flyers announced Sunday that forward Michael Raffl has been signed to a new multi-year contract. That takes one potential trade chip off the table for Philadelphia as they look to close in on a playoff spot. Multiple teams were rumored to be interested in acquiring Raffl ahead of the trade deadline.
Feb. 28 After GM Dale Tallon's big moves Saturday, it appears the Panthers are going to be active again Sunday. Harvey Fialkov of the Sun Sentinel reports that forward Brandon Pirri probably will be dealt by the end of the day.
Feb. 28 With it seemingly unlikely that the Coyotes will be able to work out an extension with Mikkel Boedker , a trade seems inevitable. The Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings are among teams interested in his services according to Craig Custance of ESPN.com.
Feb. 28 The market for young forward Jonathan Drouin appears to be robust. According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, the Senators, Blues, Sharks, Rangers and Jets are among the teams that have "done more than kick the tires" on a potential Drouin trade.
Feb. 28 After adding another defenseman to the mix, the Pittsburgh Penguins may not be done on the trade market. Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports that Chris Kunitz  is a player the Pens would like to deal, but the year remaining on his contract will make it tough for him to be traded.
Feb. 28 One of the names that has occasionally popped up in recent trade rumors is Chris Kreider . TSN's Darren Dreger threw some cold water on the likelihood of Kreider being dealt, however. He has been a top playoff performer for them.
Feb. 28 In addition to Eric Staal possibly being dealt, it appears the Hurricanes also have interest in moving veteran defenseman John-Michael Liles . Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reported that the Canes are more likely to move into the seller category after falling four points out of the last wild card spot.
Feb. 28 The Jonathan Drouin saga may be reaching its end. Former Lightning GM and NHL Network analyst Brian Lawton is reporting that the Drouin sweepstakes is down to five teams and Tampa intends to make their decision by Sunday. According to Lawton, the Ottawa Senators are believed to have made a "dynamic offer."
Feb. 27 The Rangers may be looking to make a splash ahead of the deadline. Elliotte Friedman reported during the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast that the Rangers are expected to make a big push for Carolina Hurricanes captain Eric Staal. He would have to waive his no trade clause for that to work, though.
Feb. 27 It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but the Devils are expected to trade away veteran forward Lee Stempniak by Monday's deadline according to Damien Cox of Sportsnet.
Feb. 27 Defenseman Kris Russell was the lone scratch for the Flames for Saturday night's game against the Senators. He is expected to be dealt before Monday's deadline. Washington and Boston have both been rumored as teams interested in the shot-blocking blueliner.
Feb. 27 The recent injury to defenseman John Carlson is expected to put the Caps in the market for a defenseman again according to Elliotte Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada. With Carlson on IR for a good chunk of the remainder of the season, Washington could have the space to make something work and get even deeper on the blue line.
Feb. 27 While everyone remains focused on the situation between the Bruins and Loui Eriksson, Mikkel Boedker is a likely Plan B for many teams if Eriksson stays in Boston. Though the Coyotes are still trying to go for the playoffs, they have to try to get something out of this year's roster just in case. Boedker will be sought after.
Feb. 27 According to multiple reports, there remains enough of a gap between the Bruins and Loui Eriksson when it comes to getting a new contract done, that an extension may not come before the deadline. Meanwhile, it sounds like there's already a long line of teams hoping to talk about a deal with the Bruins. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman listed Los Angeles, Anaheim, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Dallas and Minnesota as potential trade partners.
Feb. 27 P.A. Parenteau  left during the first period of Toronto's game against the Montreal Canadiens . According to the Maple Leafs, he will not return with an upper-body injury, however Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reported that he was sidelined with muscle cramping. That's good news for the Leafs as fears of injury could have negatively impacted his trade value.
Feb. 27 Amid rumors that he was likely to be dealt, Scott Hartnell  told reporters that he has been keeping track of what has been reported and written about his future in Columbus. "It's never fun," he said (via Aaron Portzline). While Hartnell remains a Blue Jacket for now, he seems a likely candidate along with defenseman  Fedor Tyutin  to be moved ahead of the deadline.
Feb. 27 On a media teleconference talking about the big trades the Panthers made today, GM Dale Tallon hinted that he may not be done dealing yet. He said it would take a big deal to get them to make another move, but they'll keep their eyes open ahead of Monday's deadline.
Feb. 27 The Bruins held further talks with the agent for Loui Eriksson, but no progress was made on contract negotiations according to Darren Dreger of TSN. They're running out of time to make this happen before the trade deadline, which leaves Eriksson's status for this season further in doubt.
Feb. 27 According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Boston Bruins are among the teams interested in Vancouver Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis  and Boston may be a team Hamhuis is willing to waive his no-trade clause for.
TRADE After initial reports suggested this deal would get done today, the Oilers officially sent forward Teddy Purcell to the Florida Panthers for a 2016 third-round pick.
TRADE The Penguins have acquired Edmonton Oilers defenseman Justin Schultz according to TSN's Darren Dreger, while Bob McKenzie reports a third-rounder is going Edmonton's way. Schultz came in with a lot of hype after signing with Edmonton and putting up massive points in the AHL during the lockout, but that production never materialized at the NHL level. A fresh start may be what he needs.
Feb. 27 Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman admitted to the assembled media Saturday that he is "most likely" done adding before the trade deadline. The team is right up to the cap, but still have some contracts they could shed.
Feb. 27 Hours after it was reported as complete, it appears that the Panthers' trade for Teddy Purcell is still pending a call with the league according to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN. That appears to be the only hangup to getting the deal done, though.
Feb. 27 Travis Yost of TSN.ca is reporting that the Nashville Predators are close to acquiring former Pred Scott Hartnell from the Columbus Blue Jackets . Meanwhile, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports nothing is imminent. Hartnell did play in and complete the Blue Jackets' game against the Florida Panthers Saturday.
Feb. 27 Vancouver Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis has to waive his no-trade clause for any deal to happen. Though he hasn't been asked yet, he did tell TSN Radio that the Dallas Stars could be a fit for him. That said, Hamhuis has maintained he'd prefer to stay with Vancouver.
TRADE The Florida Panthers were extremely busy Saturday, acquiring Jiri Hudler  from the Calgary Flames , Teddy Purcell from the Edmonton Oilers and Jakub Kindl from the Detroit Red Wings
TRADE The San Jose Sharks acquired goalie James Reimer and forward Jeremy Morin from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Ben Smith, goalie Alex Stalock , and a conditional 2018 fourth-round draft pick.
TRADE And the St. Louis' Blues trade for goalie Anders Nilsson is official. The Blues get Nilsson from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for goalie Nicklas Lundstrom and a 2016 fifth-round draft pick.
Feb. 26 It appears that the St. Louis Blues have acquired goalie Anders Nilsson from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a draft pick according to TSN's Bob McKenzie. The deal is not yet confirmed, but the Blues needed goaltending help with Brian Elliott injured.
Feb. 26 Surely, the Blackhawks have to be done making moves now, right? Maybe, maybe not. According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, they may still have some moves to make. If they can trade Bryan Bickell, which they may do, they'd free up more cap space for another move.
Feb. 26 Backup goalie Anders Nilsson was due to start against the Anaheim Ducks Friday night, but was a late scratch. He is one of the backup goalies that has garnered some interest on the trade market. Are the Oilers protecting him from injury?
Feb. 26 The San Jose Sharks are in the market for a backup goalie. TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that Buffalo Sabres goalie Chad Johnson  is one of the players that interests them. Anders Nilsson may also be an option.
TRADE The Chicago Blackhawks stayed active Friday night, acquiring Dale Weise  and Tomas Fleischmann  from the Montreal Canadiens for Phillip Danault and 2018 second-round draft pick.
Feb. 26 It appears that the New Jersey Devils could be without the services of Mike Cammalleri for the remainder of the season. That may not affect the team's deadline plans, though. Head coach John Hynes told Tom Gulitti of The Record that the team still feels it can compete for a playoff spot, which may quash any ideas of the team being sellers at the deadline.
Feb. 26 Negotiations will continue Saturday between the Bruins and Loui Eriksson according to Darren Dreger of TSN. That shows the team is going to do everything they can to get a new contract done before the trade deadline.
Feb. 26 After waiving him Friday, the Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to do everything they can to trade Jared Cowen  if he clears according to Elliotte Friedman on NHL Network's NHL Live. Cowen was one of the key pieces in return in the Dion Phaneuf trade.
Feb. 26 After the last few days, the Blackhawks have to be done, right? Apparently not. Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports that the team is interested in acquiring a winger to play alongside Teuvo Teravainen . The team still has about $1.317 million in cap space to work with according to generalfanager.com.
Feb. 26 Darren Dreger of TSN reported that the Kings remain interested in Edmonton Oilers forward Teddy Purcell and defenseman Justin Schultz, but are not expected to move terribly quickly to get the deal done.
TRADE The Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings made it official as the two clubs have swapped defensemen Rob Scuderi and Christian Ehrhoff .
Feb. 26 According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, it appears the Los Angeles Kings are closing in on a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks. The deal is not yet official, but McKenzie reports that it appears Chicago will get Christian Ehrhoff, while Jon Rosen of Kings Insider says Rob Scuderi could be headed back to L.A.
Feb. 26 Rob Scuderi is clearly not in the Chicago Blackhawks' plans and the team is reportedly trying to trade him (via Mark Lazerus). He was acquired earlier this season from Pittsburgh in a trade for Trevor Daley . Moving him without taking on salary will be difficult given his decline in play and the fact he still has another year remaining on his contract after this one.
Feb. 26 The Edmonton Oilers seem likely to trade Justin Schultz and Teddy Purcell, and according to TSN's Ryan Rishaug the Penguins (Schultz) and Kings (Purcell) could be teams interested in both players. The Penguins have a need for another defenseman due to the recent injury to Ben Lovejoy , while the Kings have been in the market for some additional forward depth.
Feb. 26 TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that the Chicago Blackhawks' rumored interest in Vancouver Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis has "cooled considerably" and that they are now focussing on lower depth defensemen. Hamhuis is a free agent after this season and would need to waive a no-trade clause before he can be moved before Monday's NHL trade deadline.
Feb. 26 According to multiple reports, the Canadiens had four scouts including GM Marc Bergevin at Thursday night's Kings-Oilers game.
Feb. 26 The Panthers were reportedly one of the teams that pursued Andrew Ladd , but ultimately lost out to Chicago. They're now among the teams reportedly interested in Teddy Purcell of the Edmonton Oilers. Source: Elliotte Friedman via @NicholsOnHockey
Feb. 26 It's already known that the Ducks are in the market for a forward, but it appears they're eyeing rentals as opposed to players with term remaining on their contracts. With several RFA deals to get done this summer, it makes sense. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet believes Buffalo Sabres forward Jamie McGinn is on their radar.
Feb. 26 Darren Dreger of TSN reported that the Bruins and pending UFA Loui Eriksson are going to take one more stab at contract talks Friday. All options remain on the table to GM Don Sweeney, but it appears the preference remains to re-sign Eriksson.
Feb. 25 The Edmonton Oilers healthy-scratched both forward Teddy Purcell and defenseman Justin Schultz for Thursday night's game against the Los Angeles Kings. It is believed to be asset protection from the Oilers. Both are among the players the team is likely to deal ahead of Monday's deadline.
Feb. 25 The players are feeling the pressure in Edmonton. One player who shouldn't have anything to worry about is Connor McDavid , but the same should probably be true for Taylor Hall . However, as Hall told Rob Tychkowski of the Edmonton Sun, even he feels like he could be one of the players dealt.
Feb. 25 With Andrew Ladd off the market, the focus on Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson only intensifies. He moves to the top of the list of top forwards "available," but the Bruins remain interested in re-signing him.
TRADE The Winnipeg Jets have traded captain Andrew Ladd to the Chicago Blackhawks. Matt Fraser and Jay Harrison are also going to the Blackhawks, while Winnipeg gets Marko Dano , a first-round pick in 2016 and a conditional third-rounder.
Feb. 25 The Anaheim Ducks appear to be in the market for a forward ahead of the deadline. GM Bob Murray told Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register that it would "be a fair assumption" to speculate the team is eyeing wingers on the trade market.
Feb. 25 The Capitals are in a cap crunch presently, which may force GM Brian MacLellan to make a move to subtract some salary one way or another. One player whose name has popped up as potentially expendable from the current group is Brooks Laich . Could the Caps live with letting one of their longtime veterans walk? Source: The Washington Post
Feb. 25 Bruins President Cam Neely told radio duo Felger and Mazz of 98.5 the Sports Hub in Boston that the team presented their latest contract offer to Loui Eriksson "the other day," but have not heard back. The clock is ticking on this tough decision for B's.
Feb. 25 Flyers GM Ron Hextall says the team is not going to be looking to add pieces for this year at the deadline. In a conversation with Tom Dougherty of CSNPhilly.com, the Flyers boss said he thinks the team has enough depth to get through the season, but also will consider deals if he thinks there's an opportunity to add for the future without giving too much away.
Feb. 25 Jets coach Paul Maurice said on Thursday that he has not yet been asked by management to hold captain Andrew Ladd out of their game against the Dallas Stars (Via TSN's Sara Orlesky). As Monday's trade deadline gets closer the Jets may decide to not play him in an effort to prevent an injury. Including Thursday, the Jets have two more games before then. They are in Pittsburgh to play the Penguins on Saturday.
Feb. 25 The Blackhawks have been trying to create cap space over the past few weeks, and along with their rumored interest in Winnipeg Jets forward Andrew Ladd, are reportedly interested in Vancouver's Radim Vrbata and Dam Hamhuis, according to TSN's Farhan Lalji. Both players are unrestricted free agents after this season, while Hamhuis has a no-trade clause he would have to waive.
Feb. 25 Florida Panthers beat writer George Richards mentions on Thursday that the team seems to be cooling on Jets forward Andrew Ladd given the expensive price tag (a first-round pick and a top prospect) for what would only be a rental. Ladd has been connected to the Panthers partly because their general manager, Dale Tallon, had him on his team during their days in Chicago.
Feb. 24 Negotiations continue between representatives for Loui Eriksson and the Boston Bruins, but according to NBC Sports Network's Bob McKenzie, there remains a gap in both term and dollars (via @NicholsOnHockey).
Feb. 24 There is apparently a multiple-team market for the services of defenseman Kris Russell. NBC Sports Network insider Bob McKenzie reports that there is going to be competition for his services if Calgary decides to deal him.
Feb. 24 Defenseman Dan Hamhuis is on an expiring contract and would make sense for the Canucks to ship out. However, he has a no-trade clause. Hamhuis told Jay Janower of Global BC News that he has not yet been asked to waive his clause, but will discuss his options with his family ahead of the deadline.
TRADE A minor trade between the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks featured the Canucks attaining the rights for defenseman Philip Larsen, who is currently playing in the KHL. The Oilers get Vancouver's fifth-round pick. Source: Darren Dreger of TSN.
Feb. 24 Tampa Bay Lightning GM Steve Yzerman told Joe Smith of the Tampa Times that it is his preference to deal Jonathan Drouin sooner than later. He also hopes to find something that can help the team for the playoffs, but cap space is an issue. Still, we should probably expect to see Drouin on the move ahead of the deadline.
Feb. 24 TSN's Bob McKenzie revealed that the Vancouver Canucks have notified teams that the following players are on the block: Linden Vey , Matt Bartkowski , Ronalds Kenins, Adam Cracknell , Chris Higgins, Brandon Prust, and Yannick Weber . These aren't exactly players that are going to command a whole lot of value in return, though.
Feb. 24 Another of the "big-name" players who could be dealt before the trade deadline is Eric Staal. Though he said recently he "wouldn't be crushed" if the Hurricanes dealt him, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that Staal's preference is to stay with Carolina. One team that might be able to pry him away? McKenzie floated the New York Rangers as one of the teams that might be in play if the Canes retain a healthy chunk of Staal's salary.
Feb. 24 One of the most fascinating potential trade chips is Loui Eriksson, but his status remains up in the air. The Bruins are in a playoff spot and he's been one of their top producers. ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun reports that GM Don Sweeney is keeping his options open, which includes keeping him beyond the deadline even if Eriksson has not signed an extension.
Feb. 24 It has long been believed that the Kings are in the market for a defenseman, and that still may be true. However, the thin market may have GM Dean Lombardi shifting his focus. The Kings may be targeting forward Teddy Purcell of the Edmonton Oilers according to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.
Feb. 24 According to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun, it is believed the Oilers are willing to retain salary in a trade involving defenseman Justin Schultz. He has a $3.9 million cap hit and would probably be a bottom-pairing blueliner or power-play specialist for most teams.
Feb. 24 The Winnipeg Jets are practicing Wednesday, but Andrew Ladd is not among them. According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Jets are saying Ladd is taking a maintenance day. Ladd scored a goal in Winnipeg's loss to Dallas and received a nice ovation from the home crowd. Was it a goodbye, though?
Feb. 24 The Flames have plenty of assets that could be available to teams near the deadline. Darren Dreger of TSN says Kris Russell, Joe Colborne , Jiri Hudler, Jonas Hiller , Josh Jooris and David Jones .
Feb. 24 Oilers head coach Todd McLellan made his opinions of his current roster pretty clear after Tuesday night's loss to the Ottawa Senators. "It has to get better or we have to make huge, huge changes," McLellan said. GM Peter Chiarelli might want to start working the phones a little more aggressively these next few days.
Feb. 24 Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed that defenseman Ben Lovejoy will be out "long-term" with an upper-body injury. That's a blow to Pittsburgh's already shallow defense. Could that put them in the market for a blueliner?
Feb. 24 TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that there could be around 10-15 teams that still have significant interest in acquiring Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin, who is currently suspended by the team. Source: TSN 1040 via Today's Slapshot
Feb. 24 The Ottawa Senators have been shopping defenseman Patrick Wiercioch and there is apparently some interest around the league according to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun
Feb. 24 The Flames are in a position to sell and one of the players teams are reportedly starting to target is veteran center Mikael Backlund  according to Eric Engels of Sportsnet.ca.
TRADE The Washington Capitals acquired veteran defenseman Mike Weber  in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres, who are also retaining half of Weber's salary. The Caps sent a 2017 third-round pick to Buffalo in the deal.
Feb. 23 According to multiple reports, the Bruins continue to work on a potential extension with pending free agent forward Loui Eriksson. Getting the deal signed before the trade deadline may prove difficult, however. According to Darren Dreger of TSN (via @NicholsOnHockey), the Bruins want to keep the term lower on Eriksson's new deal, somewhere around three or four years as opposed to Eriksson's desired five or six.
Feb. 23 The Jets continue to sit on the fence about what to do with Andrew Ladd. The Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers are among the teams believed to be most interested in the veteran forward. However, the team is still exploring the possibility of re-signing him, too. Source: Pierre LeBrun, ESPN.com
