Brad Marchand has had some really weird plays in this postseason, but what happened to him and the Bruins Thursday night in Game 1 against the Montreal Canadiens may take the cake.

With the Bruins and Habs in the first overtime and Boston controlling play, Torey Krug let go a shot from the left point. It hit Andrei Markov’s leg and deflected past Carey Price and appeared to be headed for the net. Alexei Emelin was trying to get a body on Marchand who was charging the net. Then this happened.

Emelin gave him a shove and Marchand drifted towards the net. The puck nicked off his skate en route to the open cage. Instead of bouncing back to Marchand, however, it bounced right toward Price. It just sat next to the Habs goalie who couldn’t find it before finally being cleared away. The Bruins were that close to ending it.

They were close earlier in the OT as well when Carl Soderberg tried to a squeeze a shot between the post and Price. It kind of worked, only the puck skidded through the crease. That’s a tough break right there. Twice.

Price has to be feeing awfully lucky at this point, though he has played remarkably well throughout the game, too. The Bruins, meanwhile, have to be wondering if they'll be able to buy a goal, especially after scoring three in the third to even get the game to this point.
