GIF: David Desharnais knocks puck off goal line to prevent score
The Boston Bruins were millimeters from scoring against the Canadiens in Game 6 but David Desharnais knocked the puck off the goal line that was oh so close.
Move over Tuukka Rask, you aren't the owner of the Save of the Series anymore.
In the first period Rask made a terrific save on the goal line with his paddle to keep Brendan Gallagher off the scoreboard. Well Canadiends forward David Desharnais raised Rask a couple of steps in the third.
Without his stick, even. Here it is, via @PeteBlackburn:
The Bruins were pushing for a goal to try and get back in the game they trailed 3-0, leading to chaos in the Canadiens crease. The puck looked like it was going in, Jarome Iginla sure thought it went in but the puck never did go in.
It was close, very, verrrry close but Desharnais was able to punch the puck free as it dangled right on the line, clean sheet saved.
And for those wondering, no, it wasn't deserving of a penalty shot. Desnarhis used his hand to clear the puck from the crease but never actually covered the puck with his hand, instead swiping it away. Terrific play, and smart too.
