GIF: Tim Thomas takes a tumble behind Team USA net at Worlds
Tim Thomas is still playing, representing Team USA at the World Championships. For one play he didn't represent the US well by comically falling to the ice.
Tim Thomas didn't make it a secret, he wanted to play for Team USA in 2014. He meant at the Sochi Olympics but still when the chance to play for the Americans at the World Championships came, he took it.
And thankfully he did otherwise we wouldn't have seen this great moment from Saturday's contest against Switzerland in Belarus.
Thomas, far and away the senior memeber of the young American squad, drifted behind his net to play the puck rimming around the boards. Like the veteran he is, he was doing it while keeping his eyes on the Swiss forecheck. That was a bad idea.
Thomas got his skates tangled and instead of playing the puck, he was tumbling to the ice. He did still stop the puck and it was played on safely by the USA but still, nooot a good look (via @PeteBlackburn).
Graceful it certainly wasn't but at least there was no goal. And at least Thomas could laugh about it.

In the end it was Team USA that was laughing, defeating Switzerland 3-2 in the second game of the tournament for the US. The Americans got the benefit of two VERY sketchy (one definitely wrong, a second highly questionable) offsides calls that nullified two Swiss goals in the third period.
