Johan Franzen ejected for spearing David Perron
Detroit's Johan Franzen was ejected on Thursday night for spearing David Perron of the St. Louis Blues.
Johan Franzen, come on down, because you're probably going to be the next contestant on the NHL's wheel of discipline.
The incident began during a puck battle behind the net when Perron came in and hit Franzen from behind into the glass, a play that resulted in Perron earning a minor penalty for boarding.
Franzen then turned around and jammed his stick right into Perron's midsection.
The NHL doesn't often suspend players for spearing, but this one was pretty obvious. And seeing as how it resulted in an ejection, it's a good bet that it's going to get the league's attention.
The 45-year-old forward remains unsigned but has shown little desire to hang up the skates
