LA mayor Eric Garcetti steals show at Kings rally with profane toast
Politicians usually put fans to sleep at championship rallies but LA mayor Eric Garcetti stole the show at the Kings rally with a great profane toast.
Los Angeles honored the Stanley Cup champion Kings on Monday with a parade and then a rally in Staples Center. One staple of these ceremonies are the lame speeches from politicians getting in on the fun.
LA mayor Eric Garcetti broke the mold ... and broke a few political rules all at the same time.
At the end of his time at the mic, Garcetti explained there are two rules in politics; never get caught with a drink in hand and never swear. With that as a lead-in, he then toasted the Kings with his drink and one hearty, profane congratulations.
NSFW: Watch video of his speech here and the great reactions from Bob Miller and Luc Robitaille.
After what Jonathan Quick did in 2012 at the Cup rally, who would have thought a politician would have stolen the show?
