Martin Hanzal suspended for Game 3
The NHL announced on Wednesday evening that Phoenix Coyotes forward Martin Hanzal has been suspended one game for boarding Dustin Brown on Tuesday night.
The Phoenix Coyotes have already put themselves in quite the hole in the Western Conference Final by falling down two games to the Los Angeles Kings. Now they're going to be without one of their top players for Game 3.
The NHL announced on Wednesday evening that center Martin Hanzal has been suspended one game for boarding Dustin Brown during the Coyotes' 4-0 loss on Tuesday night.
Here is Brendan Shanahan describing the play and the league's reasoning for suspending him.
Hanzal was ejected for the hit on Tuesday, and he was the second Coyotes player to earn a game misconduct during the loss.
Shane Doan was also kicked out for boarding Trevor Lewis, but the NHL did not hand out any supplemental discipline for that hit because Shanahan said, via Twitter, that Lewis turned just prior to the hit.
