Matthew Lombardi calls reporter during trade press conference
Matthew Lombardi called a phone belonging to a reporter during general manager Don Maloney's press conference to announce the Matthew Lombardi trade. Hilarity ensued.
The Phoenix Coyotes acquired forward Matthew Lombardi from the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night in a trade that might have been easy to overlook. It's not that Lombardi isn't a useful player or that he can't help the Coyotes. It's just not a deal that will shake the very foundation of the league or shift its balance of power.
It still produced a rather unexpected and kind of hilarious moment during Coyotes general manager Don Maloney's press conference to announce the trade.
As Maloney -- who was dressed in a rather snappy suit, we should point out -- was addressing the media, a phone belonging to a reporter started to buzz at the podium.
The person calling? Matthew Lombardi, a development that more than amused Maloney, as this screencap helps illustrate.
