PHOTO: Barry Trotz thanks Nashville in full-page newspaper ad
Barry Trotz is done in Nashville after 16 seasons as their coach so on Sunday he took out a full-page ad in the 'Tennesseean' to thank Nashville.
For the first 16 seasons of their existence, Barry Trotz more or less has been the Predators. He was named their first coach by GM David Poile and remained their coach up until last week when Trotz was let go by the team.
Trotz had been the longest-tenured coach in the NHL but the Predators felt it was time to move on. It led to an emotional good bye press conference from Trotz, who recalled all the great moments in his Predators career and thanked the Predators for everything they've done.
Well he wasn't done sharing his thank yous on behalf of his family to Nashville and the Predators. In Sunday's edition of the Tennessean Trotz took out a full-page ad to do just that.

Here is the full text of the ad if you're having a hard time reading that.
I came to Nashville in 1997 as a young NHL coach, but found a family and a home. This community welcomed me, my family and the Predators with open arms and, over the last 16 years, together we have experienced so many great moments creating a special bond between the team, the players and the fans.
It has been an honor to coach the Nashville Predators for the last 16 seasons. Special thanks to the absolutely first class ownership group, David Poile, who I am thankful for giving me a chance and allowing me to work along side him. I am forever grateful. Thank you to the hockey operations staff, the front office, and most importantly, to the fans of Smashville for making Bridgestone Arena such a great hockey environment.
My wish is that this community continues to support those individuals and organizations such as Best Buddies and My Friends House that are near and dear to my heart. Thank you to the ownership for your generous donation this week to the Best Buddies of Tennessee program. This epitomizes your character and commitment to this organization. This community is a wonderful place to live and work and my family will always be grateful for the hospitality we have received and the friendships we have formed that will last a lifetime! We've been blessed.
Thank you Smashville!
Pretty awesome but you'd expect nothing less from Trotz after all these years in Nashville; it was much more than just a place where he worked.
Here's a look at the life of Trotz's family in Nashville and exactly why the Best Buddies of Tennessee is so near and dear to him.
