Dodger Stadium is all ready for the Stadium Series. The ice is down as are the beach volleyball court and roller hockey rink.
On Saturday ice hockey will head outdoors in warm Southern California at the famed Dodger Stadium as the NHL's Stadium Series kicks off with a game between the Anaheim Ducks and Kings . The NHL promised the stadium and set up would be unique and have a real local feel and did not disappoint.
The most important part of the picture here is of course the ice rink on which an actual NHL game will be played. The NHL's ice guru as he has become known, Dan Craig, said that it's not exactly where they want it to be yet but that when a guy like Luc Robitaille skates on it as he did on Wednesday and it's OK, then it's probably right on track.
Seeing how this is LA we're talking about, the rink is hardly the only attraction. The beach volleyball court in left field is all ready to go as is the roller hockey rink that sits around home plate. Right field is home to the stage.
Here's a time lapse of Dodger Stadium's evolution complete with surfer music.
Right now the Saturday forecast in LA calls for a high of 77 and a low of 52 with partly cloudy skies and no rain. The game will be played at night under the lights to try and get the most ideal temperatures as possible and the NHL can definitely work with temperatures in the 50s. In other words, Mother Nature looks like she's doing her part to be as accomdating as possible in such a locale.
