PHOTO: Gary Bettman meets KISS, hilarity ensues
In what can only be described as the greatest picture of an commissioner of a professional sports league, Gary Bettman has a Kodak moment with KISS.
The NHL’s Stadium Series has been a rousing success to this point. Everything from the party-like atmosphere of LA to the large television audience for Sunday’s game. So Commissioner Gary Bettman has to be happy about how things are going for his league.
He also has to be especially happy to have been granted the once-in-a-lifetime experience of having Gene Simmons, lead singer of KISS, nearly lick the top of his head.
First time I've seen this pic. Bettman gets a Kiss. Hysterical pic.twitter.com/gjGvonXY7B— adater (@adater) January 30, 2014
Shared by the Denver Post's Adrian Dater on Twitter, Sports Illustrated photographer Robert Beck was the man to snap this photo and thank goodness for that. KISS was the headlining musical group that played the first Stadium Series game at Dodger Stadium between the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks. Apparently Bettman just wanted to stop by and say thanks or something.
I’m sure the commissioner is really happy Beck was there to capture this great moment in sports history. This is the iconic photograph for which Bettman will be remembered (I hope).
