Sharks F Logan Couture to undergo surgery, miss 3-4 weeks
The Sharks annonced that F Logan Couture would undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair an "upper body" injury, which is expected to keep him out for 3-4 weeks.
San Jose F Logan Couture will undergo surgery on his injured hand on Wednesday, ESPN reported. The surgery is expected to sideline him for 3-4 weeks.
Couture, a native of Ontario, was expected to be named to Canada’s Olympic team on Tuesday, and it’s unclear how the surgery might impact his Olympic status. The Winter Olympics begin in early February.
“For the past several weeks, Logan has been dealing and playing with an upper body injury,” Sharks GM Doug Wilson said in a statement. “Despite his efforts to play through it, the injury has not responded as we had hoped and Logan has made the decision to undergo a surgical procedure to repair the problem.”
“While the timing of the procedure is not ideal, Logan feels it is in his and the team’s best interest to get the problem rectified now. Logan will undergo surgery on Wednesday, Jan. 8 and we will have a better update on the recovery time following the procedure.”
Couture has 14 goals and 21 assists in 43 games for the Sharks this season.
