St. Louis Blues honor Stan Musial with full-page ad, special jerseys

St. Louis icon Stan Musial was beloved by more than just Cardinals fans. Since Musial died at age 92 last Saturday, the entire city has been in mourning. That includes the other local pro sports organizations.

The St. Louis Blues took out a full-page ad in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Friday to honor “The Man” and express condolences to the Musial family. Included in the ad was a photo of the scoreboard after the Blues’ season-opening win against the Detroit Red Wings last Saturday, a 6-0 shutout just hours after Musial's death.

Six, of course, was the uniform number that Musial made legendary while with the Cardinals.

On Jan. 27, the Blues will pay tribute to the local legend by wearing Musial jerseys during warm-ups before taking on the Minnesota Wild. The jerseys, each adorned with a No. 6 and Musial’s name on the back, will be autographed by each player and auctioned off. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Cardinals Care and St. Louis Blues 14 Fund.
