Steven Stamkos cleared to play, will return to Lightning on Thursday
Steven Stamkos is back. The Lightning star was given clearance by the doctors and will play on Thursday against the Sabres.
The Tampa Bay Lightning got the biggest addition of the trade deadline on Wednesday without losing any assets; Steven Stamkos is cleared.
The star sniper met with the doctors again on Wednesday and when his checkup was finished, he had been given the go. Clearly excited, Stamkos couldn't wait to tweet out the news.
Just left the doctors office. Got the green light. See you tomorrow Bolts fans. Excited to be back !!— Steven Stamkos (@RealStamkos91) March 5, 2014
That means Stamkos will ease back into the NHL -- if that's possible -- with a game at home against the Buffalo Sabres. His second game would come on Saturday against the Boston Bruins, the team the Lightning were playing when Stamkos broke his leg in November.
